Career Pathways Participation Agreement Seattle Goodwill’s Career Pathways program assists individuals entering or re-entering community college for job training. Individuals complete the Community College 101 class and receive individual support navigating the college process. The goal is for individuals to complete a job training program, earning a certificate or degree that will lead to a family-supporting job. Goodwill will offer you the following services at no cost: Information about the college enrollment process, education programs and financial aid Assistance completing all financial aid and enrollment paperwork Preparation for college placement tests and instruction in student skills Guided tours of local community college campuses Regular check-ins during the College 101 class and through four quarters of college attendance (at least bi-weekly the first two quarters, then quarterly the last two quarters) Up to TWO quarters of funding for tuition and fees, and FOUR quarters for required textbooks, supplies, uniforms, transportation, application fees and other school-related costs. Funding for each quarter depends on performance during previous quarters (see note below). A quarterly merit scholarship during your first TWO quarters of college. See note below for conditions of merit scholarships. Referrals, advocacy and limited (on a case-by-case basis) funding for social services— housing, childcare, utilities, food, clothing, vision, etc. In exchange for our services, we ask you to commit to the following obligations. Participant Obligations: Complete the Community College 101 (CC101) class. Attendance and punctuality are required. If you are 15 minutes late, you will be marked absent for a half day; if you are 30 or more minutes late, you will be marked absent for a full day. If you are absent 4 times, you will NOT receive a merit scholarship during your first quarter. If you are absent 5 times, you will be dropped from the class and the program. Complete the FAFSA online (provide proof if you have previously completed it). Complete the CASAS 130 assessment & College Terms Quiz Complete the COMPASS or other placement test at a community college Meet with Navigator in-person TWO TIMES before the start of your first college quarter. Check-in with Navigator AT LEAST once every other week (phone, email or in-person) during your first TWO college quarters to discuss your educational progress and needs. Funding Conditions All merit scholarships and funding for tuition or other school costs depends on the following: Community College 101 class attendance: 4 absences = no first quarter merit scholarship, 5+ absences = no funding of any kind. Applying for all other eligible funding sources (Worker Retraining, BFET, WorkFirst, Opportunity Grant) and meeting with college staff. Check-ins (phone, in-person, email) with the Navigator every two weeks during first two college quarters. Missing more than two check-ins per quarter = no merit scholarship. Attending college classes and turning in assignments In addition, Eligibility for funding during your first quarter in college also depends on the following: Completing the online FAFSA: No completed FAFSA = no first quarter funding TWO meetings with the Instructor/Navigator before first college quarter: No meetings = no first quarter merit scholarship. And, eligibility for funding during your second quarter in college depends on the following: Passing your first quarter of classes with an overall 2.0 GPA AND a 1.0, S or P grade in each class listed on your transcript OR explaining compelling hardships (not just inconveniences) that impacted your grades AND making a plan to help you pass the next quarter. In the case of such hardships, Navigator may allow funding for occasional W, NC, I, or other no-credit/non-passing grades if overall GPA is a 2.0 or higher. Completing the college’s Financial Aid Data Sheet and submitting all other documents the college’s Financial Aid Office requests by the middle of your first quarter. Finally, eligibility for funding for books, transportation and other needs during your third and fourth quarters depends on the following: Checking in with the Navigator once a quarter Maintaining a 2.0 (passing) GPA AND a 1.0, S or P grade in each individual class OR explaining circumstances that impacted your grades and making a plan to help you pass the next quarter. Your signature indicates acceptance of these conditions.
