Bring your lunch to the College and Career Center and listen to speakers about their jobs and how they got there. The speakers this week and their topics are: Today: Amanda Burke – Professor and Nursing Friday: Ken Rosenberg - Financial Advisor, Morgan Stanley Come to Countdown to College with your parents, Wednesday, March 11th at Los Altos High School 6:30 - 8:30pm. This event is geared toward 10th and 11th grade students and parents. There will be workshops on many topics including Testing, Writing the Personal Statement, Intercollegiate Athletics, Visual and Performing Arts, Community Colleges, Recommendation Letters, Engineering, Financial Aid, Life-Changing Colleges, Out-of-State Public University Admissions, UCs, CSUs, and Private College Admissions. We also have a panel of LAHS seniors who will be speaking about their experiences during the various phases of the college process. Speakers will be from UC Berkeley, Stanford University, St. Mary's College, Santa Clara University, San Jose State University, Stapleton Education Consulting, Foothill College, Princeton Review, Northeastern University, Drew University, Franklin D. Olin College of Engineering, Oregon State University, California College of the Arts, De Anza College, and Drew University. Seniors – Sign up in the College and Career Center for the Latino Student Conference field trip held at De Anza College on Thursday, March 19th. It’s a fun-filled day with free prizes and food! We leave by bus from Los Altos High School and return by 2:30pm. For more details, please stop by to pick up a permission slip. Hey Junior and Senior Girls! If the expenses surrounding prom are making it too hard to attend, the Princess Project Silicon Valley is for you! Junior and Senior girls are invited to shop by appointment on March 22nd at 11:00am at the fabulous Princess Project Silicon Valley boutique in Santa Clara where they can pick out one prom dress and accessory. If you are interested in this shopping opportunity, see Ms. Maria in the Administration Building next to the counselors for more information by Friday, March 6th. The Key Club is holding elections for non-executive positions. Please come by room 712 to vote for next year’s board. Join FBLA to make twist-tie fleece blankets and crafts today in the Library from 4:00-6:00. Every blanket will be donated to support families at the Ronald McDonald House. Everyone is welcome! Girls Lacrosse - We are looking at possibly adding Girls Lacrosse next year and need to see the numbers.
