Guest Speakers –
a. Sarah Neises, Interim Library Director
Jan 2016 lost four staff positions in the last five years, have lost staff in budget
cuts, a lot that have vacated the university do more for less. SOMA – open
source assessment tool, more than coming and out, do they want more
collaborative and what students are doing at any given time a computer lab will
the Halsey lab meet that need, will Reeve meet that need as they have longer
hours, want another 24-hour lab, card swipe lab renovation being funneled
through what do the students, not just books, meet friends, get printing done,
finding the books and articles just not the way students are doing research. Polk
library the number of staffing 63% less and 101 hours a week than our peers
average 97 a week even with less staff we provide more for less. Pre-med: what
time do extended hours start? Answer: May 6 through May 13. SOL: Is there a
door on the other side of the library? Answer: Open that side of the building
would need a breezeway and security entrance to be put on the other side, a little
more infrastructure we know you want this but outside of our means and would
fix that. Titan Catholics: Are you looking to be open more hours? Answer: We
want to hear from students what you need. We would be willing to make change
within reason instead of huge slots of time and would not stress the student
workers out too much with the changes. We would like a survey done before
changing.

Allocation committee 4% reduction across the board, 4% off of what the
committee has funded you. There are a few reasons why this is happening:
Insurance assessment 5,000 to 25,000, absorbed sport’s team and additional clubs
this year, lack of seg fee funding the big pot of money is smaller, look at more
fund raising if you want to do and last year there was not across the board cut,
budgets released sometime this week and Rae Ann will let you know through
TitanLink.
