I can do the following in my writing…
I use full stops to mark the end of sentences and longer pauses
I start sentences with capital letters
I join up all of my writing carefully
I use commas to split words up in lists, or to break up information
I keep my tall letters tall and my letters sitting on the line
I keep letters which go under the line, under the line
I use speech marks to show when someone starts speaking and stops speaking
I use a selection of words other than “and” to join sentences, e.g., meanwhile
I use brackets to add extra details into sentences
I don’t start sentences with “and”, “but” or “because”
I can be daring and use words I haven’t used before
I use capital letters for names of people, places and countries
I use a capital “I” when I am writing about myself
I organise my ideas into similar sections to make up paragraphs
