HR Connections Meeting Agenda October 6, 2015 3:00-4:30 pm I. New Recruitment and Selection Guide for Unclassified Staff New manuals are available at the E&AA website. Search and Screen Committee trainings are now being offered two days a week (three sessions per day). Available dates and times are posted under the “Recruitment” section of the E&AA website. Anyone from the search committee can be attendance and the training is good for one year. The whole committee does not have to be present at the same training meetings (but it is highly recommended that everyone attend trainings if they haven’t been to a session in the last year). Google Drive is being used to upload all materials related to the search and screen process. For University Staff recruitments (not unclassified), Sharri Wolc will contact the search and screen committee one approvals have been received. These committees will contain three to four members that take part in a two part approval process. II. Update on University Personnel System Changes a) Policy Updates Compensation policies are still being vetted through the Provost’s office (followed by any other applicable divisions and then back to the Provost’s for corrections). Workplace expectations are also being edited and vetted as needed. b) Starting Salaries For any new hires, they are eligible for a salary within a specified range. These new hires could start at a higher rate than a current employee. An equity study is being conducted by HR. This market analysis of current employees can bump up salaries (in extreme cases) and the information will be presented to the Chancellor for evaluation and implementation in early 2016. Questions pertaining to position announcements and any information related to the creation of announcements (like range of salary) can be directed to HR, as WiscJobs may not have the information needed for a university position. The compensation policy will be posted on the website when it is made available. Currently, submissions to request a raise of salary for a current employee can be submitted, but they will not be evaluated until January 2016. Counter-offers can be made under the policies starting in January 2016, but counter-offers are not guaranteed. If a person is taking on additional duties at a higher level, they are eligible to have their salary reassessed before January 2016. This applies to temporary increases for temporary duration of the current duties. For any market equity or salary increases based on merit, submissions will not be evaluated until January 2016. Any questions should be directed to HR. III. Update on Applicant Tracking System The RFP (a document needed to establish the terms of a contract/purchase) is scheduled to be issued next month. IV.
