1904-1927
Streetcars were nice to ride and travelled around downtown and old town
areas. At the time it cost a nickel to catch the trolley.
Another trolley company began operating east of the railroad tracks.

 Abq Ride is continually striving to make city transit more
efficient and attract new riders
 The buses have a reputation
for being dangerous
and not on time.

building a transit system.
 Pneumatic transit
via tube and air?
1970- UNM proposed to
the city the first
pneumatic transit system
in the world.

Air Powered Cars
 Compressed air and 8 gallons of fuel=
800 to 1000 miles.
Zero Pollution Motors based in India has created the Air
Car. Soon to be in the United States for about $20K.
The air car can tool along
at a top speed of 35 mph
for some 60 miles

Solar Powered Cars
 Created in the 1970’s the solar cars use Photovoltaic
cells that convert the sun’s energy into electric energy.
 Need to be made of lightweight materials.
 Solar panels are being
made to store energy
so cars can be driven
at times when there
is no sun.
