Software Objectives
Presentation Graphics
Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 is used in the textbook and it has the largest share of the
presentation software market. Other courses using the software: ITSC 1309 - Integrated

Adobe Acrobat PDF Files
Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 CS3 is used by the students for all presentation handouts
and worksheets. Students are to use a paperless workflow for their presentation
documents. Other courses using the software: ARTC 1313 - Digital Publishing I,
IMED 2315 - Web Page Design II and IMED 2311 - Portfolio Development.
Animated GIF Graphics
Ulead GIF Animator or other animated GIF software is used to create and modify
animated GIF images. Animated GIF images are used both in presentations and Web

IMED 2315 - Web Page Design II.
Color and File Formats
Adobe PhotoShop CS3 is used to demonstrate the difference between RGB and CMYK
color in graphic images. The differences between raster and vector graphic formats are

Raster Graphics
Adobe PhotoShop CS3 is used to import bitmap images from scanners and digital
cameras. The images are color corrected, cropped and/or modified with image filters.

Vector Graphics
Adobe Flash CS3 is used to show student the use of vector graphics and the timeline for

Elements.
Video Graphics
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus or other video editing software is used to capture, edit, apply
effects, and output video files. Video files are imported in or linked to PowerPoint
presentations. Other courses using the software: IMED 2315 - Web Page Design II and
ARTV 1351 - Digital Video.
