SUMMER
2011
ABOUT THE ACADEMIE MUSIQUE
The Academie Musique, the music preparatory program at Temple College, seeks to provide
high-quality, reasonably priced music programs for children of the surrounding communities.
This program also serves as a laboratory setting, which provides college students with skills and
training necessary to become qualified music teachers. Lessons with these students, who are
mentored by Temple College music faculty, are available at a reduced fee.
Instruction is provided, depending on teacher availability, in string instruments:
violin, viola, cello, bass, classical and electric guitar; saxophone; trumpet; drum set

POLICIES
TUITION
Students enroll for a four, six, eight, ten or twelve-week private lesson term, which may be paid in full or divided into
2 equal payments. The $35 non-refundable administration fee is due by June 1 in order to hold your place for the
summer session. The student may not start any classes or lessons until this fee is paid in its entirety. The first tuition
payment is due by the first class. The second payment is due by July 1.
Students are responsible for paying for all lessons even if lessons are discontinued before the semester ends, as
our teachers are contracted for the entire semester.
Private Lessons – Begin June 6
Each student will receive a minimum of four lessons for the summer.
Instruction is provided, depending on teacher availability, in string instruments: violin, viola, cello, bass, classical and
electric guitar; saxophone; trumpet; drum set with an emphasis in jazz; and piano. Voice is offered for students ages
12 and up.
Makeup Lessons
Students and teachers will have flexibility in scheduling during the summer months. However, makeup lessons will
be scheduled only when the private teacher has been notified the preceding evening by 9 pm. Any exceptions
require the approval of the director. A maximum of two lessons may be rescheduled a semester. A student who is 15
minutes late is considered a “no show.” The private teacher is responsible for making up all lessons or partial lessons
he or she missed.
ALL SUMMER LESSONS MUST BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST 12.
PRIVATE LESSON FEE SCHEDULE SUMMER 2011
Please contact the program director, Lois Reiter, or for returning students, the individual teacher, before signing up
for a specific number of lessons. Summer payments for eight lessons may be divided into two equal payments.
Payment is due June 6 and July 6.
A $35 summer registration fee covers all private lessons and camps for the
summer of 2011.
