SUMMER
2010
ABOUT THE ACADEMIE MUSIQUE
The Academie Musique, the music preparatory program at Temple College,
seeks to provide high-quality, reasonably priced music programs for children
of the surrounding communities.
This program also serves as a laboratory setting, which provides
college students with skills and training necessary to become qualified music
teachers. Lessons with these students, who are mentored by Temple College Music Faculty, are
available at a reduced fee.
Instruction is provided, depending on teacher availability in string instruments:
violin, viola, cello, bass, classical and electric guitar; saxophone; drum set
with an emphasis in jazz; and piano. Voice is offered for students ages 12 & up.

TUITION
Students enroll for a 4, 6, or 8-week private lesson term, which may be paid in full or divided
into 2 equal payments. The $35 non-refundable administration fee is due
by June 1 in order to hold your place for the summer session. The student may not start any
classes or lessons until this fee is paid in its entirety. The first tuition payment is due by the
first class. The second payment is due by July 1.
Students are responsible for paying for all lessons even if lessons are discontinued before
the semester ends as our teachers are contracted for the entire semester.
Private Lessons – Begin June 1
Each student will receive a minimum of 4 lessons for the summer.
Instruction is provided, depending on teacher availability in string instruments: violin, viola, cello, bass,
classical and electric guitar; saxophone; drum set with an emphasis in jazz; and piano. Voice is offered for
students ages 12 & up.
Makeup Lessons
Students and teachers will have flexibility in scheduling during the summer months.
However, makeup lessons will only be scheduled when the private teacher has been notified the
preceding evening by 9 pm. Any exceptions require the approval of the director. A maximum of two
lessons may be rescheduled a semester. A student who is 15 minutes late is considered a “no show”. The
private teacher is responsible for making up all lessons or partial lessons he or she missed.
ALL SUMMER LESSONS MUST BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST 1.
PRIVATE LESSON FEE SCHEDULE SUMMER 2010
Students will be able to register for 4, 6, or 8 summer lessons. Please contact the program director, Lois
Reiter, or your individual teacher before signing for a specific number of lessons.
PRIVATE LESSON SCHOLARSHIPS
All requests for private lesson & ensemble scholarships must be made by June 1. All requests for
camp scholarships are due by the pre-registration deadline for each camp. Please contact the director
