Subdivision plat
The Temple City Council is met on Nov 2, and in a 4-1 vote, denied a proposal for the
Bentwood subdivision plat. According to the Temple Daily Telegram, the plat for the
subdivision, located west of 31st Street and south of Slough Drive, was first presented to
the council on Oct. 19 and city staff recommended denying it for reasons of policy, " not
because we're anti-development," City manager Mark Watson said. "We think it goes
contrary to the ordinances. Of course, the council can overturn that". The plat would
require two exceptions to current subdivision ordinances: the cost of providing for a
traffic-collecting street on the southern edge of the property and the lack of access by a
public road for seven of the lots. The council postponed acting on the plat until after a
workshop held Oct. 26 to discuss perimeter street fees and the city's thoroughfare plan,
which outlines major roads around the city. Mr. Watson said the City Council took "a
good, hard look at the plat as it was forwarded to them", reported the Telegram.
