The faculty and students of the Temple College Dental Hygiene Program conducted a free sealant clinic February 10 for Waco-area children. The clinic took place at the Waco/McLennan County Public Health District. In all, 109 sealants were placed in the teeth of 30 children. Sealants are a major preventive to tooth decay in children. Faculty members who participated were department chair Deborah Durham, Norma Maedgen, Melissa Machalek, and Jeannie Nieto. Second-year students who participated were Guadalupe Castaneda, Melanie Cotyk, Renee Hess, Sandry Leidy, Trazon McMullen, Brooke Mott, Carrie Murphy, Rebejah Neese, Amanda Ussery, and Amber Washburn. The Waco/McLennan County Public Health District is one of three clinical sites for second-year students. Dental Hygiene students provided the full spectrum of preventive dental services.
