Project Partners •Cornerstone Foundation •Youth Ambassador Program (YAP) •Chris Wardell HIV/AIDS in Belize •Fastest growing rate of HIV/AIDS in Central America •1 out of 10 people in Belize are living with HIV/AIDS •As of 2007, 3,500 people were infected out of a population of 304,000 Significant Findings •Lack of information and education •Misinformation •Language barrier of existing HIV/AIDS education •Cultural sensitivity to existing HIV/AIDS education •Social back lash of contracting the disease •Denial of HIV/AIDS as a problem •Poverty •Tourism Project Concept •Football for Life (FFL) is a satellite program established and supported by Grassroot Soccer Organization (GRS) •GRS initiated in Africa •Implements game-based education using soccer •Using the power of soccer provides youth with knowledge, skills, and support to live HIV-free Project Goals •Establish a sustainable HIV/AIDS education program •Break the language barrier of existing HIV/AIDS education •Instill factual knowledge about HIV/AIDS •Empower local community role models, youth sport coaches, teachers, peer educators, etc. with the tools to educate the youth in their communities Methods • Creation of Micro-groups 1.
