2006 Summer Research” Award
Margaux McConn is the 2011 recipient of the Daniel C. Oppenheimer ’06 Summer Research
Award. Margaux is a junior majoring in Biology who is also an Honors College student. Her
research entitled “Competition between thick filament proteins, MyBP-C and flightin, for myosin
binding in Drosophila transgenic lines”, will be conducted during the summer of 2011 under the
supervision of Professor Jim Vigoreaux. The funding will allow Margaux to develop a research
project that will serve as the stepping stone for her Honors research to be conducted during the
2011-12 academic year. Margaux’s future goals include attending medical school after
graduating from UVM in 2012. The Department of Biology congratulates Margaux and wishes
her success in her research and future endeavors.
The Daniel C. Oppenheimer '06 Summer Research Award was established by Cindy and Randy
Oppenheimer, graduates of the Class of 1976, to honor their son Daniel C. Oppenheimer on the
occasion of his graduation from The University of Vermont. The Department of Biology is
grateful to the Oppenheimer family for their commitment and support of undergraduate research.
