SURAJ CHERIAN ATTENDS THE 32nd AChems CONFERENCE
CONFERENCE
SurajAChems
Cherian attended
the 32nd AChems (Association for
Chemosensory Sciences) Conference from April 21st-25th in St.
Petersburg, FL. He presented his research poster entitled
"Estrogen Modulates Excitability and Odorant Responses in
Mouse Vomeronasal Sensory Neurons.” Co-authors include: Ian
McDaniels, Dr. Chun Yang and Dr. Rona J Delay. The conference
was attended by researchers in chemical senses from the US,
Asia, and Europe. Suraj said “It was truly a great opportunity for
me to get feedback on my work as well as see the work done by
others in the field. This was made possible through a travel grant
from the UVM Graduate Student Senate (GSS) and housing grant
through the AChems organization.”
Apart from the above conference, Suraj attended the February 2010 Vermont Chapter of the
Society for Neuroscience Conference held in the UVM Davis Center. He presented the poster
mentioned above and was one of the four best poster award recipients.
HEATHER AXEN RECEIVES TRAVEL GRANT FROM THE NORTH
AMERICAN SECTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL UNION
Heather Axen received a travel grant from the North
American Section of the International Union for the Study
of Social Insects (NAS-IUSSI) to attend the International
IUSSI meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark this August and
present her research on mechanisms of genetic caste
determination in a fire ant hybrid zone.
NABANITA MUKHERJEE PRESENTS AT THE FIFTH ANNUAL RESEARCH
FORUM OF THE VERMONT CHAPTER OF THE SOCIETY FOR
NEUROSCIENCE
Nabanita Mukherjee presented her research at the Fifth
Annual Research Forum of the Vermont Chapter of the
Society for Neuroscience Conference held in the Davis
Center at UVM on January 29 and 30, 2010.
Nabanita also presented a poster at the ACHems XXXII
Conference in Florida in April.
