MST is the Prime Contractor responsible the Chinook Mk6 Synthetic Training System (STS) which will deliver mission specific training to RAF Chinook crews at RAF Odiham. The contract involves the design, manufacture, delivery, operation and through-life provision of a Chinook Mk 6 STS located at RAF Odiham. Normal business will involve providing instruction during the core working day however, there may be a requirement to extend the working day and therefore the role may involve an element of shift work. Specific Job Description: Instructs pilots in flight procedures and techniques in ground school courses and flight training. Prepares lesson plans. Acts as a subject matter expert by applying advanced technical concepts in the area of aviation and provides assistance in creation of training material. Assists in the preparation of schedules, maintenance of training records and ensures that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by each student. Evaluates and monitors student's performance. This position is typically represented by an experienced pilot. Specific Job Description: • This role is for the Senior Flight Instructor at the RAF Odiham STS facility who will also be required to act as the Lockheed Martin Site Lead: The role will involve; • Development of a training syllabus in accordance with the Defence Systematic Approach to Training (DSAT) as per JSP 822 • Development of Flight Mission profiles specific to the Chinook Defence Forces’ operational role • Delivery of flight training, assessment and crew debriefing • Acting as on site manager for a team of flight instructors and simulator maintainers, in order to deliver the contracted mission sortie output and facility availabilty • Maintaining an accurate record of contracted training sortie output, and availability of training equipment and facility • Maintain a qualified and productive staff at the RAF Odiham facility • This job description does not purport to cover all aspects of the job holder’s duties but is intended to be indicative of the main areas of responsibility Required Skills: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Recent operational experience of flying the Chinook MK4 (with an ability to convert to the MK6 airframe) Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with Instructional Systems Design, including training task analysis and development, writing objectives and test questions, media rationale and selection, evaluation development Good communication skills - verbal and written Proficient use of computer systems Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent Good interpersonal skills and ability to lead a small delivery team with minimum supervision Must be capable of obtaining a UK Security Clearance Desirable But Not Essential Skills: Recent operational experience of flying the Chinook Mk6 airframe Qualified Helicopter Tactical Instructor Project Management qualification such as PRINCE 2 Knowledge including courseware design for SCORM and Learning Management System implementation. Experience designing and developing computer-aided instruction, interactive courseware, and other computer-based training products in accordance with MoD standards.
