Homework: This is just a reminder that writing/typing on our class blog will be done at
home as homework, from now on. Students are familiar with using the blog. Students were
not charged a ticket this week, if they did not have their blog response done. Starting next
week, they will be charged for not doing their homework. If they are unable to do it at
home, please send me a quick note, so that I can have them work on it at school.
Behavior Charts: Please make sure to look for behavior charts on Friday afternoons. They
should be signed and returned on Monday. If students do not return the behavior chart
initialed by parents, they lose their ticket for each day that it is missing. We start over
every week. I will also note any missing assignments on there as well.
Tests Envelopes: I will be sending home the test envelopes next week. This will be the first
time that they go home. Please sign that you have received your child’s tests. Also, please
note that our first tests are done with some guidance from me. This is to help students
understand what is expected of them. Reading assessments will often have 2 points for a
question if it lends itself to having proof. Students are encouraged to add information from
the passage that supports their answer. I am currently working on grading our first math
assessment. Math questions will sometimes have multiple points as well. They will receive a
point for the answer and computation and another one for their explanation.
**Please note that one of our room parents has created a Shutterfly account for our class.
If you have not received an email invitation to the page, and you would like to be notified of
activities in our classroom, please send me your email, so that I can forward your email
address to Mrs. Balaris.
Looking Ahead:
September 11th: School Flag Assembly. Please wear red, white, and blue
September 22nd-23rd: Picture Days. I will let you know which day we will be doing our
pictures.
Have a great week,
Mrs. Hewitson
