Parent Information
Parents,
Last week, we continued our unit on biographies. We began by reading a biography on Martin
Luther King Jr. Students were also given articles on Martin Luther King and segregation. We had
a discussion about what kind of impact he had on the world, what made him want to make a
change, and how did he begin to make that change. Students were asked if there was a difference
between being famous for a talent and being famous for making an impact on the world/country.
We read a biography of a pop star to demonstrate the difference between someone that has made
an impact on the world and someone that has a talent and is famous for that talent. Our
discussion also included the fact that famous people have an opportunity to make a difference, but
often choose to think only of themselves.
Reading Homework: I looked at some reports for Test Ready on RAZ KIDZ and noticed
that some students had not gotten on the software to take a test. Please remember that
students should take at least ONE test per week, no more than two. This test will challenge
them and help them with their state test, at the end of the year.
Items needed: A big thanks to the Shen family for their donations to the class!! It is greatly
appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support and donations.
Looking Ahead:
February 4th: Field Trip to Murrieta Valley High to watch a play.
February 12th and 15th: No School
Have a great week,
Mrs. Hewitson
