SG Bill 002 Discussion: Senator Fisher: I would like to add a fourth question, should visitors as well as students and faculty have all firearms be banned Coordinator Swenson: if we pose it as an option I don’t see it as being feasible, can’t change state law Senator Blosser: I do understand the rational, but true we cant change state law, since it is kind of a survey thing Chair Johnson: Should they tighten the reigns, gives students different view point, simply a poll Senator Sikorski: more information we can collect the easier it is to state a case, no harm in asking it Senator Ronning: Call to question Second Amendment Passes Chair Robinson: this is simply a survey, should we allow the students to answer this survey Call to Question Senator Schnoor: can see a biased to the first question Senator Sikorsky: are we allowed on the survey is it only multiple choice? Last Call for Business : Move to read in student bill of rights SG Resolution 005 We have to vote whether or not to suspend operating procedures Chair Robinson: is there a reason? Answer: Wants an official stance, a lot of schools are leaning in our directions Senator Fisher: exact same thing we voted on a week ago, now we are making an official MSUSA stance Call to Question Seconded All in favor of suspending operating procedures Coordinator Swenson: we would have to go against a MnScu policy Senator Manning: What are we not allowed to do? Coordinator Swenson: take an official stance, MSUSA is a representing body of all universities, its conflicting, I would suggest striking it Senator Phillips: if they don’t like it don’t we have some time? I think its good to get something in because it is due Senator Sikorsky: any way we can adjust it later on? President Gunnerson: Yes, at delegates Chair Gutsch: We can’t discuss it next week Coordinator Swenson: we can mend it until delegates, process gets harder, I know it will be an issue id suggest striking it President Gunnerson: We can continue to talk and amend it until delegates but you could strike it out tonight and do more research and at delegates you can add it back in Chair Johnson: She has a lot of experience in this position with MSUSA take her word, we as a school need to be comfortable with what we want to present to MSUSA, the less aggressive we come off the more likely others will agree, whatever we pass should be what we are comfortable with President Gunnerson: I understand where coordinator Swenson is coming from, MSUSA will represent us regardless, however were you appointed Phillips to serve on your committee? Could they still supply students from committees, could we send someone on our behalf? Maybe we throw that in there Coordinator Swenson: committee gave a seat to that body, it would be up to the committee to accept a student not in the group Senator Phillips: I know there is a girl not going to school anymore, and could be enrolled Senator Sikorsky: what can we do to make it more reasonable Senator Ronning: yield to 5 minute caucus Senator Drinkwine: universities can have the different stance but MSUSA will represent them 4 clause struck out last clause Any individual university with a stance that is not the same as MSUSA resreves the right to supply students to CTF implantation teams at the teams/system offices discretion Call to question senator Drinkwine Second Will now move into vote of SG resolution 005 All in favor say I SG resolution 005 is adopted VII.
