Open Gallery I : Lisa Foss: strategy planning, effectiveness of university, institutional data, assessment and accreditation, useful to give you some background information, overall we decided to look at our headcount and who are our students, 15415 students on campus, 89.2% undergraduate students, 18-24 years old, about 31% is part time which is a trend that’s increasing, anything under 12 credits is part time, students of color growth it is over 16% now. -Slight increase of international students. Where do they come from? All over the world! Equally male and female, youngest is 16 oldest is 74. 17% are first generation, 1600 graduate students, median age for undergrads is 21. 76 is our oldest graduate student. -More women grad students than men. Retention, difference of cohort students we pay attention to. Increase in academic profile in new entering students. Credit taking behavior is kind of alarming. - Need 15 each semester, goes down the longer they are here. Predicting new entering freshmen class, 30 credits equivalent to one full time student. Question: Senator Sikorski: do you know the percentage of students that take less than 12 credits and over 25? Answer: I do not know that off of hand, we need to figure out what’s happening there Question Chair Robinson: do you know if those people transferred and if that’s why it goes down? Answer: Not likely transfer students, retention means they are leaving and going somewhere else Finance Hearings: NONE! b. Internal Elections : None i. Judicial Council: ii. Fee Allocation : Anna: Samba: International student from west Africa, new student, started this semester, VP of international club, make them feel at home, funds, budgets, I want to continue the experience I had, as a community college we did not have a lot of money, Question: Senator Schnoor: What made you want to come to MN? Answer: I spent 4 years in NJ and Philly Chair Vogl: do you know any of the director managed areas? Answer: No I am unsure Chair Muzzamill: will you commit your time to the committee? Answer: Yes Senator Le: why pick SCSU? Answer: good deal here Chair Johnson: how do you remain unbiased? Answer: I worked with diverse people, values and religion, while working with them you want to base your decision on how to get the goal done Anna: tech fee chair in training, interested from communication perspective, want to make sure connection is there, want to be a part of the decision making process, participating and observing, taking courses Chair Vogl: do you know any of the director manager areas Answer: Atwood, veterans, resources, women’s center, health services, lindgren, LGBT, athletics Chair Muzzamil: are you willing to commit your time? Answer: yes Chair Johnson: how will you remain unbiased? Answer: worked at a law firm, have experience with that already Senator Schnoor: could you elaborate on why the connection will help?
