Motion In order to obtain a more equitable parking fee structure and address campus congestion, the Faculty Senate recommends that the Division of Finance and Budget and the parking committee consider the following. 1. Set the maximum fee for an employee parking permit to an amount no greater than the maximum fee for a student parking permit. 2. Offer discounted fees for employee parking lots outside the central campus. 3. Eliminate the graduated fee scale based on salary. 4. Examine other proposals for reducing congestion such as: a. Create MWF/TH commuter student parking passes. b. Reallocate parking lots so commuter lots are on the outskirts of campus and resident lots are in the interior of campus. c. During prime hours, make student parking permits valid only for lots in a particular "zone," eliminating driving from one parking lot to another. d. Allow carpools of two. The Senate requests that the Division of Finance and Budget respond to these recommendations.
