Classroom News We had a very fun and exciting week in kindergarten! The Halloween Parade was a big success! A big thank you to the parents who came in and helped out and/or sent in treats for the children! This week we are sending home a Family Turkey Project that we would like you to work on with your child. Please send the turkey in as soon as it is completed. We look forward to displaying some very creative turkeys! This Tuesday (tomorrow) is a ½ day for students. Dismissal will be at 10:45. Wednesday there is no school. Next Wednesday, November 11th, there will be no school in observance of Veteran’s Day. Thursday, November 19th will also be a half a day of school due to afternoon Parent-Teacher Conferences. We have sent home reminder notices for Parent–Teacher conferences with your child. If the time doesn’t work for you, please let us know and we can reschedule. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s individual progress so far in kindergarten. Jud Murchie, Isabella’s father and Sarah Oakley, Sola’s mother, have generously volunteered to be our room parents this year! Jud is willing to compile a contact list of parent information so they can better coordinate any special activities that we have throughout the year. Common Core Standards that we are working on this week are: Language Arts: *students will be able to retell a story including main characters and setting. *students will recognize letter sounds and blend sounds in words. *students will hear beginning and ending sounds in words *students will be able to tell when words rhyme and generate more words that rhyme with a given word Math: *students will be able to count at least 12 objects whether they are in a circle, a straight line or scattered *students will be able to write numbers from 0 to 10 *students are working on orally counting to 100.
