When my heterosexual-married co-workers say "isn't it great that this companyy provides benefits to your partner?" I sat yes but then always have to remind them that the IRS taxes the thousands of dollars of that coverage as if it were pay to me therefore costing my partner and I not only the premium costs but hundreds of dollars per year in taxes for the medical insurance. Please change the law so that same-sex couples who currently cannot legally marry can at least not have to pay additonal taxes on their partner's medical insurance that lesbian, gay. bisexual, and transgender supportive companies provide as a benefit to their LGBT employees.
