STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Participation: Class preparation and participation are expected. Be prepared for a pop quiz at any time over any assignment. Assignments: Be sure to keep your assignment sheet handy so that you will not need to ask me what the assignment is or what you missed if you were absent from class. Occasional changes may be necessary and will be announced through Blackboard announcements. I will also keep the Assignment sheet on Blackboard up to date if changes are made. Late Work: . No tests will be made up unless you have a documented excused absence, in which case you must make appropriate arrangements for make-up. No exceptions will be made. No pop quizzes may be made up. ENGL 222 OUTCOMES: By the end of ENGL222, students should be able to: Identify the eight parts of speech Know the basic sentence patterns for be and linking verbs Understand and diagram the basic sentence pattenrs for intransitive and transitive verbs Resolve usage problems associated with adjectives and adverbs Work with simple, compound, complex, and compound sentence structures Recognize and repair usage problems of case, agreement, and consistency Understand and work with verbs and verbals Successfully recognize and spell commonly confused words. The first time a student submits a paper that has been plagiarized, either from a published source or from another student, the result will be a 0 for that assignment.
