Current General Education Natural Science Outcomes Description:
The LSSU graduate demonstrates scientific literacy through the knowledge and understanding of
scientific concepts and processes in the natural sciences. Through active participation in
laboratories or field experiences, the graduate is familiar with modes of scientific inquiry, rules
of evidence, ways of formulating and testing questions, and ways of proposing explanations.

Proposed Assessment:
The University assesses the natural science general education outcome through an audit of the
faculty members teaching the specified general education courses in the natural sciences as well
as the syllabi for those courses. A full description of the methods and instruments used to
measure the degree to which these outcomes are met in each course will be ascertained.
