Reminder
Modules with a quota (listed above) are only available to Entrant (i.e.new first year) students in the
appropriate Faculty (students here on a study abroad exchange, JYA or JS1A, should be treated as
Entrant students). All others may not take these modules: this includes second years and Honours
students, and Entrant students in other Faculties. If you find that any of your students have advised

themselves into modules with a quota and they are ineligible (2nd year and Honours), please remove
them and ask them to choose something else.
This year there is also a number cap on a module - FM1001 Key Concepts in Film Studies. (The
limit for the module is 155 students. Preference must be give to Entrant students (including JYA/
JSA, then second year and above who pre-advised into it (are already there), then others.
You should manage this as follows:
1. Do not remove any students from the list for now, but when you see second year and above
students who have pre-advised into it, inform them that they may eventually have to leave the
module.
2.
Except for 1. above, treat this as a normal quota ˆ only allow entrants to join.
3.
Inform non-entrant students who want to join that there may be places and they should contact
you again in week one to check.
4.
If at the end of Advising the module is over-subscribed then you will be contacted if any of your
students have to be removed. If there are places left, you will be informed about that.
