Nouns = people, places, things, or ideas
Types of nouns:
Common – without specific names
ex. dog, school
Proper – with specific names (ALWAYS capitalized)
ex. Great Dane, Crownover Middle School

• Concrete – can be sensed by one of the five
senses
ex. wind, chair
• Abstract – can’t be sensed
ex. love, heroism
• Collective – nouns in singular form that
represent a group
ex. band, herd
