We are learning:
Math: We will continue to work on multi-step
word problems and fractions. The students
are having a difficult time with determining
which parts are shaded and which parts are
not shaded. For example, if you have a
square divided into fourths and three parts
are shaded, then the child should say that ¾
are shaded and ¼ are not shaded. They tend
to say things like 3/1 are shaded and 1/3 are
not shaded. They are forgetting that the
bottom part of the fraction is the total
number of pieces. Please practice problems
like this at home with your babies. Thanks
Social Studies: We will continue our study
of Economics over this entire six weeks.
The students will learn the needs for
survival; discover how a product goes from a
natural resource to a finished product,
goods, services, supply, demand, producers,
consumers, earning income, and spending
money.
Science: The students will continue to
explore and research about animals and
plants.
Language Arts: We will work on writing
expository stories and making animal nonfiction books.
