2nd Grade Bear Cub News, Mrs. Keese’s Class Week of: Sept. 21-25 We are learning: Math: We will work on addition and subtraction problems up to 200. We are also working on problem solving skills. Language Arts: The students will be able to monitor and adjust comprehension in reading. They will focus on identifying the main character’s feelings. They will write stories about the summer focusing on capitalization and punctuation. Word Work: -eep Sight Words: ate, away, because Social Studies: We will continue our National Landmarks unit. Practice saying the National and State Pledges. Science: We will continue our Physical Properties Unit and discuss weather/temperature. Parent Conferences Classes will be dismissed at 12:50 each afternoon Monday, Oct. 5 – Friday, October 9 so that parent conferences can be held. At this meeting we will discuss your child’s reading and math assessment results. I look forward to meeting with you on your scheduled day. In one square, write the numbers 1 – 100. In another square, write the numbers 5 – 100 counting by 5’s. In the third square, write the numbers 10 – 100 counting by 10’s. In the last square, write the numbers 2 – 100 counting by 2’s. Read for 20 minutes Tuesday: Find a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter to look at. Divide your paper into four sections. In one section, write down everything you see on the front and back of the penny. Do the same in the other squares about the other coins. Come ready to share tomorrow! Read for 20 minutes Wednesday: Divide your paper into four sections. Label the sections Fall, Spring, Summer, Winter and list clothing you would wear for each season, activities you would do in each season, transportation that might only be used in that season, etc. Read for 20 minutes Thursday: Practice your word work in your spiral listing –eep words.
