Joan Hartmann is a Santa Barbara County Planning Commission Member who is running in the 2016
June primary for the 3rd Supervisorial District in Santa Barbara County.
What is the Third District?
The 3rd Supervisorial District consists of 1,041 sq. miles of land and supports a population of over

What will you get out of the program?
The three major things that we will be working with interns on is teaching grassroots organizing skills,
interpersonal skill, and the opportunity to network with leaders in the environmental and Democratic
Party’s leadership. Furthermore, we will be teaching you campaign skills, volunteer recruitment,
communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. This internship is an
excellent opportunity to interact with the candidate, Joan Hartmann, for Third District Supervisor, and
learn about County government issues and scope. The Third District race will be highly competitive
and this internship presents a unique opportunity to experience a high stakes campaign.
What will your workload look like?
If you are interning for course credit through UCSB, we are asking that you complete at least 10 hours

interning for course credit, then we will ask that you commit to a minimum of 5 hours a week.
Although the minimum requirement is 5 hours a week, giving more time to the campaign will mean
