Pre-AP Atomic Model Project
Due: September 28, 2015
Object: Build a 3 dimensional model of an atom.




The model can sit or hang.
The atomic number should be displayed on the model.
All subatomic particles should be displayed and correctly placed in the atom. The charge and mass of
each particle should be displayed as well.
Be creative!
In addition to the model, the following information should be included on a notecard.
* Chemical and physical properties of the element.
* Location of the element on the periodic table (group and period).
* Any interesting facts about how the element was discovered and where it can be found in the Earth or how
it is used.
Rubric for Atomic Model Project
Model sits or hangs: 10 pts.
Atomic number displayed: 10 pts.
Subatomic particles labeled: 10 pts.
Charge and Mass indicated: 10 pts.
Information:
Chemical properties of the element: 10 pts.
Physical properties of the element: 10 pts.
Location of the element on periodic table: 10 pts.
Where the element can be found in the Earth: 10 pts.
How is the element used? 10 pts.
How was the element discovered? 10 pts.
