Important Dates and
Reminders
This is your spelling list for this week. On
Friday, you will be expected to spell & read
each word on a Spelling Quiz. Practice
spelling your words at least twice a week.
 March 22- Cookie Dough Delivery

PROVIDENCE PROVIDES PROJECT
Help the homeless by donating to Student
Council’s Providence Pro-vides Project. Donations
of sham-poo, soap, toothbrushes, tooth-paste,
deodorant, disposable razors, and lotion will be
donated to Denton County’s Local Homeless
Shelters. Donation are located at the end of each
hall way. Donating not only helps the homeless it
also will help 1st Grade win the “Most Donations
Collected” contest!




Academics
Language Arts: We will be learning how to sequence
events and practice identifying pronouns and verbs.


Have your child show numbers 1-120
in standard form (29), expanded form
(20+9) and written form (twenty-nine).
Have your child compare numbers to
120 with words (90 is greater than 89,
90 is one more than 89, 90 is one less
than 91) and symbols. 89 > 90,
90>60, 90=90
Add two and 3 digit numbers without
regrouping
Classify and sort regular and irregular
shapes
Have your child show a number 3
different ways using 10’s and ones.
Draw sticks for 10’s and cubes for 1’s.
Math: We will review addition and subtraction with and
without word problems. (2 and 3 digit numbers without
regrouping)
Writing: We will learn how to use mentor texts to inspire
us to write.
Social Studies: We will learn about the features of
maps and globes and how to use them.
