Articulation Agreement

KANSAS CITY KANSAS COMMUNITY COLLEGE

and the

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT OMAHA

INTRODUCTION

This articulation agreement is made and entered into by the University of Nebraska at Omaha, hereinafter referred to as UNO, and Kansas City Kansas Community College, hereinafter referred to as KCKCC. By this agreement KCKCC and UNO express a shared commitment to increasing opportunities for student access to and success in higher education. By clarifying transfer policies and procedures which assure articulation between programs, with this agreement the institutions seek to assist students in making a seamless transfer from the associate to the baccalaureate degree.

PURPOSE

This agreement pertains to the following degrees from UNO:

Bachelor of General Studies with an

Area of Concentration in: o Nonprofit Administration o Criminology and Criminal

Justice o Political Science o Sociology

This agreement pertains to the following degrees from KCKCC:

Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts and

Sciences in: o Political Science o Pre-Public Administration o Sociology

Associate in Applied Science in: o Addiction Counseling o Corrections o Early Childhood Education o Paralegal Education o Police Science o Victim/Survivor Services

CONDITIONS OF TRANSFER

UNO and KCKCC agree that, if a student completes an AA or AAS from KCKCC in one of the above areas of study, then he/she:

1.

Will receive recognition of that degree toward the completion of the Bachelor of General Studies

(BGS) degree offered by UNO through the College of Public Affairs and Community Service

(CPACS) and its Division of Continuing Studies (DCS). A maximum of 64 semester hours of coursework may be applied toward the BGS degree. a.

Only courses completed with a grade of C- or better are transferable toward the BGS degree. b.

KCKCC courses numbered below 100 are not transferable to UNO. c.

Students will receive lower-division credit for all KCKCC transferable credits. d.

All student transcripts will be evaluated according to Program of Study sheets made available by CPACS/DCS.

Will be awarded the Bachelor of General Studies degree upon successful completion of: a.

Requirements in the area of concentration and secondary fields as stated in the UNO

Undergraduate Catalog. b.

All other current graduation requirements as stated in the UNO Undergraduate Catalog, including, e.g., those pertaining to the minimum number of semester hours required for the degree (currently 120), general education, standards of progress, upper-division progress, upper-division hours, and hours in residence.

COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS

In performing the obligations of this agreement, both parties shall comply with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, statutes and other legal requirements according to the jurisdictions of each party. For example, requirements of the state of Nebraska shall govern UNO; requirements of the state of Kansas shall govern KCKCC.

AMENDMENTS

This agreement is effective as of the most recent date attached to the signatures, below, and is effective until changed in writing by mutual agreement of both parties (KCKCC and UNO). This agreement may be amended at any time with the approval of both parties and is subject to regular review to assure currency with the respective degree requirements. Should either party desire to terminate this agreement, reasonable notice (ideally two years) and mutual discussion by authorized representatives of the parties is required. A notice of agreement to terminate shall be signed by appropriate representatives of both parties upon termination of this articulation agreement.
