As I write this, it is hard to believe that our fair is in one week. We are frantically stuffing packets, counting ribbons, and answering all the last minute questions about what truly is original visual art and where exactly you can park on the fairgrounds. Summer means long days and lots of hard work for youth development staff, but I like being a youth development educator. I get a great deal of personal satisfaction in seeing the happy face of member who just received his first blue ribbon or a member proudly showing their project to their leader or grandparent. I hope that all of you have a great summer and that you take time to see the youth that you work with … “making the best better”. IEPYE Spring Meeting The Illinois Joint Council of Extension Professionals (IJCEP) meeting was held March 14-15 in Effingham. The first day members from IEPYE joined ESP, IEAA, and IEAFCS members for a motivational program by Robin Orr and a program on using census data by Pat Curry. The second day IEPYE held its Spring IEPYE meeting with approximately 30 members in attendance. After the business meeting, Dr. Jan Seitz spoke to the group and then members talked briefly about “cultivating the future of IEPYE”. IEPYE members mingle after the Spring Meeting.
