“I Remember”
Due: Tuesday, Dec. 2
The purpose of this assignment is for you to relate to your audience an experience that will
capture their attention with strong images; vivid details; and tight, fluent, varied sentence
structure with some repetition for effect.
What to Write About
You may write about any moment or event that will make your piece interesting.
How to Write About It
Use the I remember format or other effective repetition as discussed in class. Readers should
notice your story and voice (how you come across through your use of language and
structure), not the phrase I remember or other repetitive structure. Use repetition for effect.
Be descriptive. Make every word count. Get rid of the excess. Use your own “voice.” Keep
your writing focused, and write authentically.
Typed. Readable font.
Grading Criteria
This assignment will be evaluated for ideas, organization, and sentence fluency but the weight
of the grade will be on sentence structure: variety and effectiveness.
