Name:_______________________
Decimal Worksheet
Due Wednesday, 9/4/2014
(each problem worth 2 points, for a total of 30 points possible)
Remember the following rules for working with decimal numbers:
Addition
Line up the decimal points (use 0 place holders,
if desired).
Subtraction
Line up the decimal points (must use 0 place holders
in case borrowing is necessary).
Multiplication
Do NOT line up the decimal points, do line up digits to
the right & multiply (ignoring decimals), then
use the TOTAL number of decimal places to
decide where to put the decimal point in the
answer (use 0 place holders if necessary).
Division
Take care of decimal placement first (if the divisor
has a decimal in it, move that decimal point to
the right until it is at the end of the number;
then move the decimal point in the dividend
the same number of places, using 0 place
holders if necessary).
Perform the indicated operations – show all of your work, otherwise
you will not receive credit (if additional space is needed, attach
notebook paper). Place your answer in the blank provided.
