Dr. Smith: Hi! You picked a good day to come. We will be
busy! We have twenty new animals today.
Interviewer: What do you do first each day?
Dr. Smith: I check to see if any of the new animals are sick. I
look at their eyes and ears. Sometimes I give them shots.
Come and meet my special cat.
Interviewer: Will she find a home?
Dr. Smith: Read her story. What do you think?
Muffin is a lost kitty. A man found me and fed me. Then he
took me to this shelter. I am a sweet cat. Will you please take
me home with you?
Dr. Smith: I wish that I could spend time with Muffin, but I
have to check the new animals.
They hear loud noises and check to see what is going on.
A worker was leading two dogs into the shelter. “Come
Puffy. Come Jake.”
Interviewer: What will happen to these dogs?
Dr. Smith: They will get a bath. I will check them to see if they
are healthy. Then we will watch them for a day.
Interviewer: Why do you watch them?
Dr. Smith: To see how they act with people and other dogs.
