Welcome to third grade! My name is Ann Skipper and I am so excited to work with you and
your child! I love teaching and know we will have a year full of fun, learning, and lots of
adventures. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! I thought you would like to know a
bit about me!
I am one of the few Arizona natives, attending Chandler High and earning my degrees from
NAU. I taught second grade for eight years in Chandler and then have had the privilege of teaching
kindergarten at Eagleridge for ten. This year I am thrilled to “move up” to 3rd grade! I am happily
married to a wonderful man named Tracy and have two children, Tyler (16) and Cami (13). I enjoy
reading on my Kindle, scrapbooking, movies, shopping, and spending time with my family.
CURRICULUM-
In third grade we will be working on thematic units that last about six
weeks each. Our themes for this year include: U.S. Landmarks, Solar System, Thanksgiving,
Penguins, Flight, and Oceans. Using these themes as a guide, we will be reading books, writing
stories and poems, experimenting in science, and working in groups to collaborate on projects.
SCHOOL HOURS (PICK UP AND DROP OFF) -
School starts at 9:00 a.m.
and ends at 2:30 p.m. Please make sure your child is at the playground by 8:55 a.m. Students will
line up at the blue wall and I will come out to pick students up at 8:55 a.m. and walk them to class.
Please make sure your child is on time for school as tardies interrupt the class. After school, our
class will go to the pull through lane at the front of the school. Please make sure you pick your
child up by 2:30 p.m. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your child will be walked to the office
to wait. Thanks in advance for being prompt.
LUNCH and SNACKS-
Our lunch is at 12:00. You may send a sack lunch or purchase
lunch in the cafeteria. Lunch is $1.95 and milk is $.50. It is easiest if you prepay for lunch in the
cafeteria. The children are welcome to bring a small, healthy snack to eat as we work in the
morning if they need the pick-me-up. In addition, I encourage you to send a water bottle labeled
with your child’s name, especially during the hot summer months.
SPECIALS-
We have P.E. every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30, music each Tuesday at
1:00, library each Thursday at 10:30, and computers each Thursday at 2:00. Please remember to
wear tennis shoes for P.E.
BIRTHDAYS- Students are welcome to bring store bought treats to share with the class for
their birthdays if they wish. Typically, we will celebrate birthdays at the end of our classroom time
(2:15 on Tuesdays, 1:45 on Thursdays). You may send the treat with your child in the morning, or
bring it with you if you plan to join us for the celebration. Please let me know so I can plan
accordingly.
DONATIONS-
We will be doing many hands-on projects and will periodically request items
for these activities. In addition, we welcome donations of Kleenex; wet wipes for cleaning the
tables; small, recycled toys and treasures for our class treasure box; and gently used books for our
classroom library! Finally, donations of your time are welcome. If you wish to help in or out of
class, please let me know.! I know you are busy homeschooling families, but I want you to know
you are always welcome!
