Unrestrained Energy Harvesting Floating Vessel Optimized Energy Absorption Team Members: Armanj Hasanyan, Eric McDowell, Duncan Hall, John Scanlon, Jacob Montgomery Advisors: Dr. Muhammad Hajj and Dr. Abdessattar Abdelkefi The goal of this project is to design a bio-inspired energy harvesting device based on principles of fluid mechanics in order to power oceanographic sensors. We aim to prove our design concept of harvesting energy by using piezoelectric material in the Norris Hall Wind Tunnel. We are currently working on making our energy harvester more efficient and finalizing our design specifications. Deliverables: • Proof of concept that our design can harvest energy • Create computational model of piezoelectric setup • Create CAD model • Plots of data from wind tunnel testing • Publish two journal articles related to our design
