UMHS CONSOLIDATED REPORTING SYSTEM
The installation of Windows 7 requires a re-image of your computer’s hard drive. As a result Smart
View will be newly installed and you will need to reconfigure your Smart View settings. The process is
identical to the process on Windows XP, so if you are comfortable with configuring Smart View on
Windows XP, you don’t need to read any further. Otherwise, this document walks you through the
Smart View configuration steps.
Setting Up the Shared Connection

In Excel, select Smart View.
In the Smart View ribbon, select Options.
Select Advanced in the Options menu.
In the Shared Connections URL text box, enter the following case sensitive URL:
https://findatamgr.med.umich.edu/workspace/SmartViewProviders
5. Click OK.

Setting Up the Private Connections
Create UMHSCons_TrialBal

In Excel, click the Smart View tab. Click Panel in the Smart View ribbon.
Select Shared Connections on the Smart View panel.
Select Oracle ® Essbase from the dropdown.
Expand the EssbaseCluser-1. This is the Production connection.
Enter your Level 1 credentials in the Connect to Data Source pop-up and click Connect.

6. Expand “UMHSCons”. Expand “TrialBal”.
7. Right-click on TrialBal and select Add to Private Connections.
8. Name the connection UMHSCons_TrialBal.
9. Right click the new connection UMHSCons_TrialBal.
10. Select Set alias table.
11. Select Default in the Set alias table pop-up.
