My name is Miss Johnson; I am a senior at Arizona State University majoring in Physical Education. I am the student teacher for Mrs. Smith this fall and I’m really excited to be learning how to be a great PE teacher here at Ishikawa Elementary. I’m thankful for this opportunity to teach students the importance of physical activity at this young elementary age. I chose P.E. as my career because I strongly value the health benefits a physically active individual will have. I’ve worked with many elementary aged children in various sports leagues in the east valley and teaching children truly is my passion in life. I look forward to my semester as a P.E. student teacher at Ishikawa and am confident it will be a great one! Ishikawa PE Dept. P.E. SHOES REQUIRED! P.E. shoes are mandatory in order to be able to participate in P.E. due to safety concerns. In compliance with school policies, any students who choose not to wear their P.E. shoes on their P.E. days will sit out for the entire period. This choice will also result in a loss of participation points thus lowering the participation portion of their P.E. grade. It is critical that your child comes prepared for exercise and activity so they can do their best and be successful! Thank you for your cooperation! Grading Medical Excuses There will be two factors that will determine your child’s grade: *Participation *Behavior If your child is unable to participate in P.E. class, please send to the nurse a written note with an explanation for excuse, including your child’s name and the length of time the excuse is necessary. Your communication with us is greatly appreciated. Having an incredible attitude every day provides a rich and fun learning environment for students and teachers alike. Please encourage your child to do their absolute best in both these areas! P.E. SCHEDULE: Kindergarten 1st Grade Butler- Wed./Fri. Caha– Mon./Thurs. Hatos- Mon./Thurs. McLaughlin- Mon./Thurs.
