GRADES
Every teacher has their own grading policies and procedures. Please check with them as to how your
final semester grades are being calculated.
Some teachers have a 1st quarter, 2nd quarter and final exam grade for fall semester. This process
starts over 2nd semester (3rd quarter, 4th quarter and final exam). The final exam can be up to 20%
of your total grade each semester.
Other teachers do a rolling, continuous grade book. At the end of the semester they add up the total
amount of points you have and divide it by how many points were available.
ASK EACH TEACHER WHICH METHOD THEY USE!
CHECK YOUR GRADES ON YOUR STUDENT PORTAL WEEKLY!!
If you are unfamiliar with the student portal or are unable to log on to view your grades, attendance,
teacher contact information, credit history, etc. please see your grade level advisor or the Registrar,
Ms. Hall (in the front office – Room 010).
Be aware of your grades, missing assignments, etc. Check on all your classes FREQUENTLY. It is
your responsibility to keep up to date on the grade status of each class to avoid falling too far behind
to catch up!
Things You Can Do To Bring Up Your Grades
Take advantage of the tutoring resources listed on the front of this flyer.
Check with your teacher if you are missing any homework assignments. If you are, are you allowed
to make them up and by what date? Are you eligible for full credit if the assignment is late?
Were you absent when test or quiz was given? Can it still be made up? By what date?
Do your teachers allow you to rewrite essays, correct answers that were wrong on a test, re-do labs
in order to bring up your grade? Again, check to see by what date these assignments would have to
be in.
Can anything be done as extra credit? What are the requirements? By what date does this have to
be done?
If you are having trouble understanding the material covered in class, make arrangements with you
teacher for some one-on-one tutoring. This can be done by making an appointment with your teacher
to come in either before school, after school, or during lunch.
Please do all you can by each semester’s end to be successful in your classes. Stop by the
Advisement Office if we can be of any assistance to you!
