Information Items
Allied Health Programs’ Background Check Fee Change – Due to revisions in the contractual
Affiliation Agreement between Valencia and all of the clinical agencies we do business with, the
fee for background checks will increase from $49.00 (estimate) to $65.00 (estimate). Valencia
has a contractual agreement with approximately 65 clinical agencies; the background check
required is a national search.
The programs affected are:

Cardiovascular Technology

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Computed Tomography

Nursing

Dental Hygiene

Polysomnography

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Radiography

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Respiratory Care
The fee change generated several comments, such as feeling that while adequate justification
was given for the reason the fee is increasing, justification for the actual amount was unclear.
However, there was consensus for the increase.
Note: Due to an error in calculations, the actual amount of the new fee will be $64, not $65,
as originally stated. The actual increase is $15.
The next meeting of the College Curriculum Committee is scheduled for November 11, 2009, and
will be held on the West Campus, Room 6-202. Deadline for submission of materials for the
November agenda is October 28, 2009.
