DAP VALENCIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE Annual Department Action Plan (DAP) This form provides a documentation template for annual Department Action Plans (DAPs) designed to assess unit outcomes that are designed to impact the learning environment and improve the educational programs and processes of VCC. Initial information and projections describe the PLANNING PHASE of the process. At the conclusion of the project/activity time frame initial information and projections will be updated by completing an EVALUATION PHASE including modifications, outputs and outcomes. Both planning and evaluation information will be organized according to parallel criteria including: (1) a formal goal statement, (2) outcome measures, (3) collaboration with stakeholders, (4) evaluation methods and (5) use of results for improvement of unit performance in meeting established outcomes. Outcome Measures-how plan will be reviewed and measured outcomes PLANNING PHASE Initial Information and Projections To develop a comprehensive Student Leader Program that will include college-wide standards, goals, curriculum, and an effective assessment process. 1. Establishment of a Fall and Spring Student Leader Retreat 2. Design of a standard campus -based training curriculum. 3. Standardization of Leadership Stipend requirements/curriculum. EVALUATION PHASE Modifications, Outputs, Outcomes Developed a Student Leader Assessment Plan, Standard Trainings and the Student Leader Award Criteria. 1. 3. Reengineering this program will also allow Student Development to assess its effectiveness, raise its standards, and validate its mission. 1.a. Student Leaders gained in Leadership Behaviors related to all of the leadership behaviors assessed in the Pre/Post Leadership Challenge Assessment b. 80% Retention Rate in the Student Leader Program 2. As a result of the focus group, the student leaders felt that they gained in the all Leadership Challenge’s behaviors assessed but more in the behavior of Modeling the Way and less in the behavior Challenging the Process 3. 60% of the students college wide completed the new comprehensive Student Leader Award 4. Based on the retreat evaluations, 95% of the Retreat Learning Objectives were achieved These results provided concrete evidence of the effectiveness of Valencia’s student leader team program, initiated the development and implementation of the Student Leader Award, and explained the importance of a standard curriculum that focuses on collaboration and student learning.
