Aims for the day
To:

share and discuss emerging findings with key interested groups

facilitate networking between research projects, and between
researchers and those with an interest in research findings

engage with the perspectives of people who use services and policy
makers

provide an update on current policy issues and development

clarify DH role and requirements and practical issues re the Initiative
Desired outcomes for researcher days in general

Create/encourage networking among researchers

Learn about emerging common themes and practical issues

Discover/strengthen links to other relevant research

Identify/spread good practice/successful strategies

Inform people about DH objectives, and requirements

Inform planning of future coordination

Gain added value from initiative by:
identifying and developing the intellectual connections between the individual
studies;
encouraging and supporting methodological innovation within and across the
individual studies.

Briefing sheet
Service User and Carer Panel Dialogue: Each member of the panel to have
the opportunity to speak for five minutes, if they wish, about important issues
in thinking about the future of the social care workforce, and questions that
they would like research to investigate. This to be followed by questions and
discussion with the audience.
Group discussion:
How can current and future research inform the DH workforce strategy?
What evidence and analysis is there to help identify factors that will
help or hinder taking the strategy forward?
What other evidence is needed?
How do national developments, or other research link with project
development?
What issues//themes are emerging?
