Right justify and bold me, please. Your name, centered, replaces this line. Select it all, then type your name. This first paragraph will start with a Drop Cap. The Format menu Drop Cap command is the way to obtain a drop cap for a paragraph. The drop cap sets off the paragraph, leads the reader into it and makes the entire document more visually attractive. Drop caps should never be used on every paragraph. Two or three per page is the maximum number to use. Place a border around this second paragraph. Make the border a double line border please. The Format menu has a Borders and Shading command, but there is also a nice shortcut button to get the toolbar and do it much more swiftly. Headers/Footers This document should have a header and a footer. The header will have your name, first and last name. They will be right justified. The footer will have today’s date, left justified, and the page number, right justified. Place the word page and a space before the actual page number. Remember to use # instead of typing the number! The View menu has a Header and Footer command. Be sure you are in Normal View before doing the command. Character formatting The second red sentence of this paragraph should be bold. A shortcut for making this sentence bold: hold down the control key and click on it to select it, then use Ctrl and B to make the selection Bold. Try it. Control B is for bold, Control I is for italics, Control U is for underline. Make the words bold and italics and underline in these sentences bold and italics and underlines, respectively, just for practice. Triple click shortcut This paragraph needs to be in a size 10 font instead of size 12. Triple click anywhere in this paragraph to select the entire paragraph. Change the font size to 10 and change the margins to 1 inch and 5 inches instead of 0 inch and 6 inch margins. Use the Format menu Paragraph command to change the margins so it goes from 1 to 5 instead of 0 to 6. Two numbered paragraphs If you double click, that is a shortcut for selecting a word. Control key plus click is the sentence select shortcut. The selection bar shortcut is another technique to remember. Try using the selection bar area to select this paragraph and then next paragraph. Then turn them into enumerated (numbered) paragrahs. This is the second of the two numbered paragraphs. Increase the indent to 1/2 inch instead of 0 inch. Use the Formatting Toolbar button to increase the indent. This is the last sentence of this paragraph and somehow it got placed first. Use the drag and drop feature of Word to place the last sentence at the end of this paragraph, where it belongs. Do no forget about the Edit menu Undo command. Do not ever forget about the Edit menu Undo command. Just Undo It! This sentence was supposed to be the first sentence of the paragraph. Place it first! Thanks! Isn’t drag and drop a fun shortcut.
