Prerequisites:
49-hour Community Counseling Program:
COUN 501 (Orientation) must be completed before Basic Skills - minimum "B" grade required.
COUN 510 (Theories) must be completed before Basic Skills - minimum "B" grade required.
COUN 528 (Group) must be completed before Basic Skills - minimum "B" grade OR may be taken concurrently with COUN 516.
OR
60-hour Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program:
COUN 501 (Orientation) must be completed before Basic Skills - minimum "B" grade required.
COUN 510 (Theories) must be completed before Basic Skills - minimum "B" grade required.
COUN 528 (Group) must be completed before Basic Skills - minimum "B" grade.
Passed Level 1 Exam.
Applications submitted by April 8, 2016 will receive first consideration for available classes. Preference is given to students who are
fully admitted into the counseling program. Late applications are not guaranteed consideration.
PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY TO SEND IN YOUR APPLICATION. WE NEED TO HEAR FROM
ALL STUDENTS WHO WANT TO TAKE THIS CLASS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
You will be notified of your acceptance to the class section to enroll via your Leomail email account.

IMPORTANT School Counseling Students--If you are following the School Counseling Track, you must comply with
Professional Certification program, also. Make sure you have submitted an application and turned in all the required
documents to their office (which includes a copy of your service record). This will save you considerable time and
frustrations later as you prepare for comprehensive exams, TExES, and graduation.

This requirement must be completed before you can be considered for COUN 551.
Complete personal counseling requirement (Minimum of 6 sessions of individual counseling). Can be met at no charge
through sessions in Community Counseling & Psychology Clinic (903)886-5660 (Commerce), Harold Murphy Clinic
(469)302-6318 (McKinney), or through a counselor of student’s choice (fees may apply and are the sole responsibility of
the student). Student submits documentation of participation for placement in file (Masters Handbook Spring 2015).
Which campus do you prefer? (Indicate 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, but ONLY if they are good options for you—Do not indicate a
campus unless it is a good option for you. If you will not be able to attend classes on that campus, then do not indicate
