Introductory comments
The honours program is an alternative final year of the Bachelor of Human Movement
course for selected students offered by the Faculty of Education at Launceston.
Admission & prerequisites
Students in year three of the Bachelor of Human Movement course are able to express
their interest in undertaking the final year as an honours student. Such students would
have successfully completed all units in years 1 and 2 and have attained a Grade Point
Average (GPA) of at least 3.25 in their year 3 results. It should be noted that the GPA may
be altered at the Dean’s discretion on advice from the Head of School. Invitations are made
by the Head of School of Secondary and Post Compulsory Education to students in any
specialisation of the Bachelor of Human Movement.
Course objectives
The Bachelor of Human Movement (Honours) provides students with the opportunity to
develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to conduct research in the diverse
fields of human movement knowledge. This course will also prepare students for future
higher degree study.
Course structure
The honours year includes most facets of the Bachelor of Human Movement course but
makes provision for students to undertake the Research Seminar and the Honours
Seminar and Dissertation. Schedule A outlines the BHM year 4 program for each of the
approved specialisations while Schedule B outlines the BHM (Hons) program for these
specialisations.
Students from other universities with prerequisites acceptable to the Faculty may be
accepted as candidates for the Bachelor of Human Movement (Honours) degree.
