Senator Lee: Motion to approve tonight’s agenda as amended. Second. All in favor. Moved. V. Student Remarks None. VI. Guest Speakers Director of Marketing: Zach Kinderman I vary a lot in my projects. My focus is to help market and promote projects, events, and initiatives that our organization is doing. That includes all cabinets. I work to push and make students aware of all of our events and get them involved. I want students to be informed and push them to participate. I recently helped with the concert by having a ticket giveaway that increased awareness. I am currently working on a video that showcases everything Student Government has done such as Chick-fil-A and EcoAdventure and invites students to join. With the Jaguars tickets, we had so many sales that we were offered a special offer of a $50 ticket that gives $250 club seating for a game. We are working on Town Hall currently to teach students about everything we offer to peak student interest. o Attorney General Baker: Can senators participate in the video being filmed? –Yes, we encourage Senators to get involved, it will be Friday morning. I want everyone noticed in the video. o Senator Lee: What time is the filming? –From 8:00am to 11:30am. o Chairman Ascanio: Does the Director of Communications share responsibilities? –We are playing with that because they are very close. Communications is focused on image; he works with Spinnaker, helps with speeches, rights press reports, and etc. My focus is on marketing and promoting what we want to bring to campus as a Student Government. Student Advocate: Connor Klein VII. Remarks of the Chair – sgagoc@unf.edu If you notice something I have done is wrong, please state a point of order so that we follow Robert’s Rules. Please be thoughtful in your questions. Do not feel obligated to vote yes. VIII. Old Business IX. New Business Senate Appointments Christian Fleming: I am a sophomore, studying Finance. I have a strong interest in joining the Budget and Allocations committee. I first saw UNF as a second option but through my experience here so far I have realized that Student Government is a great opportunity to get involved. o Senator Johnson: Do you have any previous leadership experience? - I was the Greek Week liaison for my fraternity, Kappa Sigma. I am able to take initiative. I have volunteered most recently at a military academy. I was in charge of leading a group of children through the day in getting up, outdoor activities, etc. o Senator Akpabio: Earlier you said you felt disconnected as a freshman and you wanted to get involved, why are you choosing Student Government? –I know I have strong leadership abilities and apathy. I know this is a way to represent the Student Body and I am confident in my abilities to do that in many different ways. I feel I can represent the lower student body easily and I have connections with older students to represent them as well to compare the past to now. o Attorney General Baker: Can you name a few concerns voiced to you? –I know parking services is a pain; I know a lot has been taking into initiative to change that. I believe they could use their resources better. I also believe cheaper dining options on campus would be greatly utilized. o Attorney General Baker: Have you read the C&S or have been versed in it at all? –Not yet but I have full intention in doing so. o Senator Lee: How do you plan to balance academia, Greek life, and Student Government? –I am currently unemployed and taking 12 hours (three less than usual). I allotted my time well this semester for campus involvement. o Senator Johnson: Can you give me a weakness you have? –Yes, Robert’s Rules is not my strong point. I am not familiar with that parliamentary procedure. o Chairman Ascanio: In terms of your involvement on campus, do you think your leadership within your fraternity will conflict with your views of the entire Student Body? –I saw how involvement in a fraternity paralleled with involvement in Student Government, being a part of something larger than you and I saw interest in that. I currently have no leadership positions in the fraternity and I do not believe that the ones I plan to pursue in the future will overtake my time as they are dependent on time management. o Chairman Ascanio: What is one thing you want to have accomplished as a Senator, looking back in a year? –I would love to affect the financial situation of the school. Any influence in the Budget and Allocations committee would create for a positive experience for me. I strive to become the Chairman of that committee. o Senator Johnson: Motion to forward Christian Fleming to Senate. Second. Discussion. Roll call vote passes 4-0-0. X. Announcements To Appointees: Be on time for Senate. Our next committee meeting will have Mrs. Vicki Shore speaking. XI.
