prepared to answer questions about the activity or your results.
Question 1
Go to Chapter 3: 2-D Kinematics and do Physlet Problem 3.9
A projectile is launched with an initial speed of 20 m/s as shown in the animation. The
time display is suppressed, but you can still click-drag to get coordinates. A line is also
shown that represents the initial direction of the velocity. Write your answers to the
following questions in the space below.
a. What is the launch angle?
b. What are v0x and v0y?
c. What is the maximum height the projectile will reach?
d. How long does it take the projectile to reach that height?
e. What is the total time that the projectile is in the air?
Question 2
In the figure below, a rock is thrown up past windows 1, 2, and
3, which are identical in size and regularly spaced vertically.
Rank the three windows according to (a) the time the rock takes
to pass them and (b) the average speed of the rock during the
passage, greatest first.
The rock then moves down past windows 4, 5, and 6, which are
identical in size and irregularly spaced horizontally. Rank those
three windows according to (c) the time the rock takes to pass
them and (d) the average speed of the rock during the passage,
greatest first.
