Support and Workshop-Style Groups Starting week of January 25th! Mondays at 6 pm, Shelle Welty Finding Freedom Ever feel trapped by the patterns you repeat in your life? This group will give you practical strategies for improving the way you manage your emotions, react to your thoughts, and deal with the relationships in your life. Find freedom through greater control of your body and mind. Mondays at 7 pm, Shelle Welty Mindfulness Learn how to reduce your stress, regulate your mood, improve your concentration, and enhance your mental and physical health with this intensive 8 week group that will train you in mindful awareness. Group sessions will include practice and education in developing a regular meditation practice. Date/Time TBD, Connie Horton Women’s Group Women provide empathy, support, and feedback as they share their concerns. Topics vary but frequently include relationship concerns, family issues, stress, and the need for self-care. Tuesdays at 4 pm, Jeff Williams Men’s Wellness Group Looking for a place to connect and meet with other men dealing with stress, anger, addictive behaviors, and relationship challenges? This group deals specifically with the struggles that face many young men and provide them opportunities to learn healthier patterns of living. Mondays at 2 pm, Tuesdays at 2pm, Wednesdays at 5 pm, Thursdays at 9 am, Fridays at 2 pm, Connie Horton Resilience Life can be hard. This workshop-style class will help students learn to thrive rather than just survive during hard times. Topics include caring for one’s body, tending to one’s social life, developing healthy thinking patterns, learning mindfulness practices, and moving toward a life of purpose and fulfillment. These simple practices, used regularly, can change your life. Wednesdays at 7 pm, Connie Horton GLBTQ This is a confidential safe place for students who identify as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or are questioning their sexual orientation or identity to share their experiences and receive support. Wednesdays at 4 pm, Shelle Welty Eating Disorders Group This support group will incorporate elements of mindfulness, topical discussions, and peer support. The group is designed for those currently in treatment for an eating disorder or in recovery. If interested, please contact Shelle Welty for a brief meeting prior to group attendance. The Counseling Center offers a variety of small groups to help students learn and grow. Groups typically range in size from about 4-8 members and meet weekly at a regular time.
